Gloriosa Bruno (@gloriasbruno) January 18, 2019 GLEGGA BRUNO (@glambruno), a Democrat, has been mayor of the New York City borough of Queens since January 18.

Brunoing for her bid to become the city’s first female mayor, Bruno has served as mayor of her borough since January 2017, the city said.

“I am honored to be the next mayor of #NewYork City,” Bruno tweeted.

As mayor, she has vowed to fight the opioid crisis, improve the lives of her constituents, combat climate change and create jobs, according to a tweet from her office.

She also plans to create a task force to combat the scourge of gun violence, and work with the state and the federal government to address the opioid epidemic.

The tweet also referenced her record as a New Yorker.

“I know you’re the person to talk to about the #Opioid Crisis, the #NewYorks #HeroinCrisis, and how we all need to keep fighting together.

I’ve got to tell you I’ve been doing my part to help #New Yorkers get the help they need,” she said.

Brunozo has served in various roles in the city, including mayor of Manhattan in 2015, and Brooklyn Borough President in 2017.
